2018 Contest Winners | Presentations | Standings | The Challenge | Rules | The Prize | Judges | Sponsors The winner of the 2017-2018 HEF Student Design Contest was announced at the Department of Energy's Annual Merit Review in Washington DC from June 13-15. The Grand Prize Winner for the HEF Hydrogen Student Design Contest was the joint team from the University of Toronto and University of Florida for their Motion+ design (linked in the table below). The 2017-18 Contest had two honorable mentions, the first being the University of Waterloo, the second being Oregon State University, Cascades. All designs and accompanying materials are linked in the table below. [top] [top]
[top] The 2017 Hydrogen Student Design Contest will challenge student teams from around the world to develop a design for a system that uses electricity to produce hydrogen for cross market uses, including energy storage, ancillary services, and transportation fuel. The teams will choose a site in their area, engage their local electric and gas utility, coordinate with regulatory bodies and safety experts, and create educational materials, including a short video. [top] The theme of the 2017-2018 Contest was "Designing a Power-to-Gas System" View the rules and guidelines >> The winners won a travel stipend to present their design at the U.S. Department of Energy's Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation (AMR) in Washington, DC. They will also have the opportunity to have their design published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. [top]
